Herodotus, Histories 2.41
I love this passage because it kinda sounds like Herodotus tried it on with an Egyptian and they were like "yeah nah, I can't because of uh.... religious reasons"

@snaitf recommended i check out this production of JSC on youtube so i gave it a watch & had a really good time!!
i found Judas a little underwhelming (sadly) but every else very on point. really great vocal performances. will probably listen to this one through again.
soo let's rank it:
How do they style Simon Zealotes?
Tumblr media
costuming very minimal throughout so taking that into account yeah this is a good look ✔️
How camp do they play Herod?
ok uh. due to the above mentioned minimal costuming i wasn't expecting much from this but uh
Tumblr media
the fuck?
Tumblr media
this is where the entire costuming budget went huh dghfdkjghjk
anyway. she was a delight & the whole number was mesmerisingly weird & jarring in a way i've only seen before in the 2000 production. no notes 10/10 ✔️✔️✔️
How’s the high note?
Tumblr media
ok this production as a whole has a very heavy emphasis on vocal performances BUT he actually acted the hell out of this number. big tick. ✔️
How do they stage Judas taking the money?
Tumblr media
boo 👎i realise this is a very minimal production but they couldn't spring for 1 prop for this scene. c'mon. nothing wrong w the performances we just don't actually see him take the money!! ❌
How’s Judas’s Superstar outfit?
Tumblr media
ok i don't actually love this as a look but in keeping w the rest of the production i think it's appropriate so i'll give that a ✔️
How gay is the betrayal with a kiss?
so at first i was like boooo bcos Jesus said the line but they didn't actually kiss??
Tumblr media
but no turns out they'd just made the intriguing decision to switch the order on the line & the kiss. anyway this whole production is pretty firmly platonic (which is fine) but the kiss is very soft & tender so i'm giving it a pass ✔️
anyway some other things i enjoyed:
Tumblr media
this is a tiny detail but one i don't recall seeing before, they had the line 'come on god, this is not like you' in the arrest scene delivered by Simon?? i love that actually.
Tumblr media
Mary Magdalene is so so beautiful & has the voice of an angel im in love with her
Tumblr media
Pilate played by a woman is a new one on me. im VERY into it. took me a little while to click w her bcos she started out playing it very villainous but by the end im like actually that was all pitch-perfect. loved it.
Tumblr media
Mary fully scream-crying through the crucifixion was another choice i haven't seen before and honestly. harrowing to watch.

i know i know no one really cares, but like for all the hype Journ.ey to Bethle.hem is getting for their songs and for Milo and the fun campy-ness....can we PLEASE just talk about Joel Sm.allbone as Antipater??
Like, while it sooo wasn't necessary to the plot, it was so gripping to me? IDK I just really attached to his character most because I love the complexity of the role. Trying to be a good son, soldier, and learning to be a future (roman-jewish) ruler whilst keeping in mind the looming beast above them that is the fuckin Roman Empire. What is the line to upholding the legitimacy of his /father's reign, following the orders of a higher order (Rome/God) and what is just plain wrong- like murdering pregnant women and infants in the face of all that? Antipater deals with a lot and I just loved seeing his internal conflict in his song 'In My Blood'.
Never been anything But your loyal son Been a good soldier Followed your orders Never questioning you once You're all I wanted to be But now it's all unraveling There's blood on my hands Don't know if I am A monster or the son of a king
I truly feel like Mary and Antipater were the only ones actually played as a serious role for obvious reasons and I think were the best actors tbh, but IDK I just really loved these two. They had phenomenal chemistry imo, but that's me because I wanted so badly to see this extended in some form or another and maybe because in so many ways it didn't feel like a christian movie so my brain kept thinking what's the next in the series? What's next for Antipater? Which in of itself is conflicting as a believer because I know what I believe and to feel unsatisfied with it is ....-gestures- anyways that's not what this is about.
I do know I have a TYPE and it is Antipater, but I do think Joel did wonderfully in the role, and he has acted in other movies as well and had his music featured in other movies like Ben Hur (2016). He is a fantastic singer I just loooove his group 'For King and Country'. Go check out THIS music video and tell me its not gripping.
I guess my other thing about this is KNOWING that the writers fully well knew what happened to the actual Antipater, firstborn to Herod, and so to tie this in just WRECKED me emotionally because it unsayingly says that he dies in the end and the resignation just destroyed me. Historically, Antipater is charged & executed for the intended murder of his father Herod. I found this section in Wikipedia and wow
Concerning Antipater's execution following on the heel of Herod's executions a couple of years before of his sons Alexander and Aristobulus, it would be recounted in the compendium Saturnalia (compiled by Macrobius) that Augustus remarked "It is better to be Herod's pig than his son."
So for me knowing all that on top of watching (skimming) the movie just wrecked me for Antipater and his role here. So yeah that's my two cents and love for the character and his storyline in the film. I'd love to write something fictional with a similar tone because I really want to see it explored more.
I don't think I have said it anywhere before on the blog, but I am a non-denominational Christian with very open views to many things, beliefs and concepts. So if anyone has any questions on whatever regarding that please feel free to hmu I'd love to discuss it with you <3 I do not believe in bible thumping- that is not what I'm here to do. I believe there's many ways to God and the universe and that we're all entitled to find and discover that in whatever manner is best fitting for you.

Die if you want to, you innocent papaya!
I’ve just watched Jesus Christ Superstar (2000). I’m on my marry way to check all versions of this musical and since I’ve been a little bit down today (and as of late, in general) I thought that watching what is apparently considered to be the most ridiculous version would be a good idea. It was. There’s a reason why I keep reading that this fandom thinks of it as something so bad that it’s actually good. It’s absolutely horrible... I LOVED IT!
My spontaneous remarks:
I honestly think that they simply decided that 2000 fashion was great enough to be left as it is so most of Jesus’ fam looks like 2000 fashion trademarks with Simon being the peak of ‘00s with his bleached sticky hair and dot-like beard-thing under his bottom lip
Jesus in baggy ‘00s cargo trousers... XD
Why are there like tons of graffiti from all possible times, like hippie signs, antifascist slogans, slogan of french revolution... it’s just too much, it’s an absurd, like they could not decide which one should it be so they put them all there
CAMP is everywhere!
overacting is strong with this one... Oh, so strong!
Judas and Herod are just the worst singers I’ve ever heard in JCS... THE WORST... I mean, I keep thinking that Jesus has the blank, leave-me-alone-Judas face not cause Judas complains all the time, but because it hurts his ears to hear him singing like... for Someone’s sake, shut up, already! And it's the same way with Herod who, btw, reminds me of some Tim Burton's villain from 90s.
BTW, Judas is weird mix of being Very Gay & Jealous and being Violent & Pervy Little Shit... What the hell was that about when Mary kissed Jesus while he was sleeping (btw, consent, no?) and she looked up and there he was: the Pervy Stalker Judas and he tried to kiss her to be a Mean Shit (consent, again? Come on, guys!)? I don’t actually like the way he treats Mary in this version. Really, he gets handsy and violent and I hate it
And also... like in the last song, the Superstar, he’s like devil-style and looks far too happy making it hard for Jesus to carry that cross... and also why is he still there after Jesus is crucified? Dude, you are dead, I get the Superstar cause that’s the narrative thingy, but this?
Gethsemane was not half as bad as I expected
Jesus singing that Judas would be sorry when he’s gone and then fainting dramatically like a golden diva he is 🤣
Why the Temple is full of the Orientalism shit?
Pilate was so damn weird with his... camp Nazi clothes and gay dreams (yeah, that dream, dear ppl, was played out pretty gay here)
Pilate: Die if you want to, you innocent papaya! - I LOVED IT! Hahahaha! 😅
the creators really do love the slow motion, don’t they?
Caiaphas, Annas and the Gang are in... the Death Star?
Caiaphas voice is frighteningly low... and so damn slow? And then he has a vision I think cause he overacts wildly to my utter amusement!
And this one guy during Jesus Must Die who realised he had left his stove on...
The emphasis they put on Jesus loosing control over his fam is quite interesting to watch, like in the Simon song, Simon is giving people guns and Jesus is really confused and angry about it all. Usually the loosing control thing is a little bit less obvious... Actually, I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing in JCS 2000... too literal, perhaps?
Jesus face when they sing Hey, J.C., J.C., won’t you die for me?’ being like: O.O A whaaaaaaaaat?
Jesus and Judas chasing one another around the table during the Last Supper made me laugh so hard... and then after this: Look at all my trials <sob> and <sob_sob> tribulations <sob>... They really ruined the family dinner, didn’t they?
Judas crawling across the table to get Caiaphas and the Gang and they are all like... <panicking> Back off, gentleman, Judas went bonkers!
I’m out of quick remarks, I think? Head empty. But even though it was so odd and just badly done it was campy, funny and made me laugh so hard I almost forgot I’m feeling down so, yeah, as weird as it sounds, this musical can be an odd ‘00 comedy. Probably it shouldn’t, but well... I’m not complaining.

The tone of the ask about your Matthew post is kind of antisemitic, tbh. Like, I saw your original post about Matthew, and I thought it was fine, but the ask saying that "the Jews" hated Matthew because he was just too good at taking their money makes me really uncomfortable.
The reblog suggesting that handling money was viewed as "ritually impure" also isn't really accurate, as far as I know. There were money boxes in the temple for donations and there were currency exchanges for travellers as an important part of Jerusalem. Handling or changing money wasn't looked down upon. There are certain modern-day suggestions to avoid handling money on Shabbat (the Sabbath) because it could be considered work, but I don't know if those applied at the time.
While your point about Matthew working for the Romans (a hostile occupying force) and therefore being viewed as traitorous is probably fair, a lot of the other stuff going on around the post is, not great. I don't mean for this to be, like a call-out or anything. I just wanted to bring it to your attention because some of the historic rhetoric around Jews in the NT is harmful.
Anyways, I really like your content about autism, and despite not being a Christian myself, I find your discussions of theology and representation to be really interesting! Great blog
Hiya! Thanks for checking it out!
I'm just gonna be honest and say I had no idea what this was about at first since the ask in question is almost a year old, lol. Also, this is take two of answering this because I wanted to be funny about that point and add a gif of Gandalf saying "I have no memory of this place" but when it took too long and I closed the gif finder, tumblr ate everything that was under this. Makes me want to beat my head against the wall a lil bit. I'm probably going to forget half of what was in the original. Anyway. Moving on.
I'm so sorry that ask made you uncomfortable! And I didn't address the reblog at the time because I try not to talk about things I don't know, and at the time, the very logic you put to it didn't occur to me. I would agree with your assessment: they would have handled money frequently, so I doubt that doing so would have made Matthew (or anyone) ritually impure.
The New Testament is pretty clear about what people in general thought about tax collectors. There are several instances where the phrase "sinners and tax collectors" appears. This distinction is notable because it places tax collectors in a separate category of sin, so to speak. They were viewed as so much worse than everyone else that they were mentioned apart from everyone else. The reason for this is because quite often tax collectors took more than Rome demanded and took the excess for themselves. Roman taxes were already bleeding them dry, and tax collectors "legally" stealing from them to furnish a lavish lifestyle was only making it worse.
Additionally, they viewed working for Rome as siding with Rome, and with all the atrocities of Rome against the Jewish people, their hatred was absolutely justified. (Herod did, after all, order the murder of all children under the age of two years because he was a afraid the Messiah would "steal" his throne.) They (again, reasonably) considered Rome the enemy and thus anyone working for instead of fighting against their enemy was a traitor.
Whether or not Matthew was good (or even "the best" as that ask said) would not have made much of a difference in how he was viewed.
Anyway, there's a lot of history here, but yeah, you are right so thank you for pointing those things out!

Infernal  -  II
Summary: In your sleepy little town of Greendale, nothing ever slept for long. And ever since October, everything felt like it was waking up. Everything except for you, that is. One teensy trip to Hell (and an infuriatingly cute guy) later and suddenly you felt wide awake.
Word-count: 2.5k+
Masterlist Prev. | Part 2
A/N: thank you guys for all the support for Part 1!! i really appreciate it and i hope you enjoy this one 💕 (also this is my first time making a tag list, could please you let me know if it worked properly?)
Tumblr media
Things went back to normal so quickly that your trip to Hell almost felt like a dream that you just couldn’t shake - the only visible sign that it ever happened being the carefully covered bruise on your forearm. That’s just the way life was now; spikes of supernatural intervention and then the lull of Baxter High. But then Sabrina burst into Harvey’s garage again, holding a gigantic book in her arms and calling for a Crisis Fright Club meeting. Another spike.
She explained how one of her new duties was dragging souls to Hell and that she needed your help to get the next guy. Jimmy Platt. Her plan was that once she took Jimmy’s soul, you guys could grab his newly-dead body and she could use it to house Lucifer and free Nick.
“So, it’s like Freaky Friday!” Harvey said. His enthusiasm made you laugh, which you quickly stifled when you noticed that your friends were still on edge about the whole ‘reaping the ice-cream man’s soul’ thing.
“It’s called a soul transference, but kind of,” Sabrina said.
The four of you agreed to take the Spellman hearse and steal Jimmy’s body while Sabrina took his soul to Hell, but she grabbed your arm before you could follow the others to Harvey’s pickup truck.
“What’s up, Brina?” you asked, trying to hide the hesitancy in your voice. She seemed unsure for the first time since you’d met her, and you doubted it was because of the body-snatching. “Do you need to talk about being Queen of Hell?”
“No, it’s not that,” she answered. She bit the inside of her lip for a moment as she chose her next words. “Well, I mean, it kind of is. Do you remember Caliban, the guy from the beach who’s also trying to rule Hell?”
A face like that was hard to forget, but you didn’t want to tell Sabrina that.
“Yeah, why?”
“I want you to stay away from him,” Sabrina said. The words tumbled out of her mouth and she worked quickly to explain what she meant to your arching eyebrows. “Not in like an ‘I forbid you from seeing him’ kinda thing, just be careful if he shows up. I don’t know anything about him except that he’s bad news and clearly has a thing for you.”
“First of all, I don’t think demons have things for anyone,” you said, overcompensating for the rush you got when she said he was interested in you. “And second, this is the same guy that wants to enslave all of humanity, right? Not really my type.”
“Yeah, I wasn’t really into the bad boy thing at first either-” Sabrina looked over at Harvey and Roz for a second when she spoke - not long enough to seem significant to anyone who didn’t know her, but long enough for someone like you. “But things change and I just want you to be careful if they do. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“Trust me,” you said, using your other hand to move Sabrina’s off your arm and interlace it with yours. “The only way I’m going to get hurt is if the ice cream man tries to make a break for it.”
She gave you a not entirely convinced smile before the two of you piled into the back with Theo. You picked up the hearse, played musical chairs with the seating chart, and then waited for something to happen after Sabrina left to reap her first soul.
Rather disappointingly, the only thing that did happen was Sabrina coming back empty-handed and confused. Undisappointingly, Jimmy had kidnapped a little girl in order to extend his contract, and if he died then she rotted away somewhere in Greendale.
---
The last thing you felt like doing was going to the pep rally after Sabrina accidentally got locked in Jimmy’s murder-freezer and Lucy got returned to her mom, but there was nothing else you could do. They had a plan and you were just backup if it went south. The plan did not include you trying to kick Jimmy's teeth in.
You didn’t want to third-wheel Theo and Robin or Harvey and Roz, so you picked a spot against the fence where you could still be a part of the pep rally but you had some distance from the over-eager teens. Leaning against the fence, you got lost in your thoughts until a voice woke you up.
“I thought it was tradition for all the pretty girls to dance up there in their little outfits, not for one to be left behind in the shadows.”
You turned your head to see Caliban waiting for you to respond, so you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms over your chest. He was bad news, even if he was attractive bad news. Like a car crash that you just couldn’t keep your eyes off. Did car crashes usually have such phenomenal bone structure?
“And I thought it was tradition for all the demons to be in Hell, not hitting on unaccompanied minors,” you said, doing your best to seem unrattled. Ignoring the smirk on his face and turning your gaze back to the cheerleaders, you continued, “You do know that Sabrina will kick your ass if she finds you here, right?”
“I think the Morningstar has other priorities at the moment,” he said. The sand crunched under his feet as he came closer. “But you can try to kick my ass, if you’d like.”
Casting a glance at him before turning away, you reminded yourself not to get involved. A pretty trainwreck was still a trainwreck, no matter how much you wanted it not to be. The ground shifted again and Caliban was right next to you, lifting his hand slowly to move your hair off your neck. The places where his fingers brushed your skin lit up.
“You truly have no idea what you are, do you?” He asked it like he was telling you a secret. Despite your attempts to seem unnerved, your jaw clenched. He moved in your peripheral vision and took something out of his pockets. Stepping in front of you, his hands lifted to drape a necklace over your head. “The shell is from the Shores of Sorrow. When you’re ready to find me, just break the shell. Use it wisely, love, because it only works once.”
Choosing to look at his face instead of the necklace, you noticed something in his eyes that made you think at least part of what he said was true. There was something else that made you feel like you didn’t want to find out which part it was.
Determined not to be unnerved, you put on your best war face and straightened up. “And why should I believe anything you say?”
“Why should I have any reason to lie to you?” he asked, seeming amused by your standoffishness.
“Because you want to get the Throne, which means you have to go through Sabrina,” you said, taking the necklace off and wrapping the rope around the seashell as you spoke. The shell was white with specks of faint color creating patterns along the outside. A very pretty trainwreck indeed. You reached for his hand and lay the necklace in his palm. “And you’re trying to go through me to do that.”
“Do you really think so low of me?” Caliban asked.
You couldn’t tell if he was genuinely hurt behind that stormy expression of his or just trying to manipulate you. You looked down at your hand, still holding the back of his, and saw your sleeve had rolled up. Pulling away, you tugged your sleeve down to cover the ugly yellow- purple that had been sticking out. Looking back up to say that yes, you did think that low of him, you found Caliban staring at your forearm.
“You didn’t get that in Hell.”
He said it so matter of factly that it sent shivers up your spine.
“How would you know?”
Harvey called out to you, breaking your staring contest and signaling that it was done. When you looked back, Caliban was gone. The necklace lay in the sand where he had been. Telling yourself it was better if you had it than some unassuming girl, you picked it up and shoved it into your pocket. Then you rushed over to your friends like you hadn’t just consorted with the enemy. The very distracting enemy.
---
In an effort to prove that you were right to distrust him, Caliban challenged Sabrina’s right to rule with a challenge to find the Unholy Regalia. The first part was finding the Crown of Herod, so you spent the day at the Academy with Ambrose trying to figure out where it could be. Zelda was hardly enthused about your presence, but Hilda asked what the harm was of letting you poke around under Ambrose’s supervision. Besides, she said, they had bigger problems to worry about than you reading about witches.
After scrambling to find the location of the crown, Ambrose left to find Sabrina, leaving you alone in the Academy’s library. Figuring this was the only opportunity you’d get, you started looking for books about … something. You didn’t know what Caliban meant when he asked about what you really were, and your dad had told you countless times that Delilah was based on you. If she wasn’t human, that had to mean that you weren’t human either, right?
Or that your dad was crazy. Either option seemed equally possible, if you were being honest with yourself.
One of the books you pulled was about changelings; fairies or demons that replaced human babies and terrorized their host families. But you knew it wasn’t right. It just didn’t click with you, and you doubted that they’d just dump a fairy with humans without an evil instruction manual or a card with the time and place of Evil Babies Anonymous. If you were a demon or a fairy, you felt like you’d know about it.
Sighing, you checked your phone. Multiple texts asking where you were, if you were coming to the carnival, and did you need a ride. You sent off a few texts that all essentially said the said thing: you’d meet them there as soon as you could.
You made your way back home and dumped all your school things and research on your chair in the corner of your room. You grabbed a jacket and pulled your hair up into a ponytail before heading out the door so none of your friends put out a missing person’s report on you.
“Bye, Dad! Don’t wait up!” you called.
Just before opening the door, you heard your dad say something that you didn’t quite catch. Hand hovering over the doorknob, you had to decide between heading out or see what was responsible for the nagging feeling in your stomach. The nagging won.
“I thought you were going to the carnival with your friends,” your dad said with an easy smile when you leaned in his doorway.
“Yeah, I am but I thought you said something,” you said.
He seemed to be doing better today at least. The good days used to be the norm, the bad days were a foggy nightmare that you woke up from with a stack of your dad’s homemade pancakes, and then you turned sixteen. Now you could count the number of good days on one hand.
“Oh.” He straightened up in his chair. “I just said to be careful. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and all that. Have fun.”
“Wait, what did you just say?” you asked, muscles tensing slightly. He couldn’t know about Herod’s crown.
“To be careful,” your dad blinked.
“After that.”
“Have fun?”
“Right,” you said. He’d forgotten what he said. Another lapse in memory, did this still go in the good day pile? “Will do.”
The Carnival was way more unsettling than you expected. You couldn’t find your friends anywhere, all the sounds were too loud, and the lights got brighter and brighter as the sun set. Your dad’s words ringing in your head didn’t do much to ease the anxiety either.
You jumped as one of the games rang out next to you and a hand reached out to steady you. You pulled your arm away and caught the hand with your own, twisting it at an angle and waiting for the wrist to snap.
“Easy,” Caliban warned, leaning into the movement to protect his wrist. “You could hurt someone like that.”
“That’s kind of the point,” you said, dropping his hand and crossing your arms over your chest again. Even though you acted like it didn’t, this place felt a little bit safer with him next to you.
“Oh, I know,” he said with a devilish smile. He ran a hand through his hair as he stepped closer to you. “I see you kept the necklace.”
He couldn’t have - you were very careful to hide it under your clothes - but you knew he expected you to check. That would give him an answer as to if you kept it. You didn’t move or say anything, but you did jump when another game celebrated a victory with loud chiming.
“A little on edge tonight, are we?”
“Only because there’s this guy that keeps popping up whenever I’m alone,” you said, turning and starting to walk again. “People are telling me to get a restraining order, but I’m not sure it’ll do anything to stop him. I think something more dangerous and less orderly might be what I need.”
“Perhaps I could be of some help,” Caliban said, making it clear that he understood what you were implying but refusing to acknowledge it. “I happen to have an affinity for doing dangerous things.”
“Oh, I bet you think you do,” you said, stopping and turning back to look at him again.
A dangerous thing with an affinity for doing dangerous things looked back at you. Maybe it was your anxiety clouding your judgment or maybe it was the way the Ferris wheel lights caught in his eye, but all you wanted in that moment was to forget Sabrina’s warning and kiss him. After all, one dangerous thing never hurt anyone; it was always the harmless things that got people damned. Like apples. And Caliban was hardly an apple. Though if you thought about it hard enough, maybe that meant he was the snake.
Realizing that it had been almost a minute since either of you had said anything and a smile was slowly etching its way across Caliban’s face, you shifted your weight and asked, “Don’t you have places to be, people to torture?”
“Now that you mention it, I do have somewhere I need to be.” He ducked his head slightly as he spoke and took a step back, readying his hands for whatever spell he was about to cast. Looking back at you with a smile that managed to be both conniving and grim, he added, “Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and all that.”
“Wait, what did you-”
But he was already gone, a few burn marks on the ground the only evidence that he’d been there at all.

Exodus 21:22-23:13, Matthew 24:1-28, Psalms 29:1-11, Proverbs 7:6-23
Today is the 5th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I'm Brian and it’s great to be here with you today as the journey continues forward and we collectively come in around this Global Campfire and allow God's word to begin to wash into our lives and speak to us for today. So, we’re reading from the Voice this week and in the Old Testament we’re in the book of Exodus and we find ourselves with the children of Israel at Mount Sinai, the mountain of God, where God has descended and terrified the people indeed. But Moses is hearing instructions from God on the top of the mountain while the people wait below. So, today Exodus chapter 21 verse 22 through 23 verse 13.
Commentary:
Okay in the book of Matthew today, we…we wrub up against why Jesus was also known as an apocalyptic prophet, somebody to prophesy about the end of all things, the end of the world. And, so, this is first time we’re rubbing up against this, but we need to talk about the apocalyptic world view, because we have one of those, as did the people in the first century at the time of Jesus ministry. So, basically to like boil this down to some kind of core it's…it's this awareness that we have that things don't seem to be as they should be. And, so, we are moving, and we can't move backwards, we’re moving forwards and we’re moving toward something, right? And that's something is probably at some point going to bring about the end of things as we know it and a rebirth of something new will transpire. This is like essentially in an apocalyptic worldview and we could say that Jesus had an apocalyptic worldview. And He shared that today and this…this all starts because the…the disciples and Jesus, they’re walking away from the temple and everybody is looking at the temple complex and how amazing it is. And this would've been the second Temple. So, a temple built by Herod. It would've been relatively new and immaculate and beautiful. And, so, the disciples are just like, “look at…look at all this.” And they're asking Jesus what He thinks about it all. And He tells them, “it's basically…it's all gonna get smashed to the ground. There’s not gonna be one stone left.” This is somewhat inconceivable to the people that heard it and it would come up again later at Jesus trial. But the words turned out to be prophetic. So, just a few decades after Jesus life Jerusalem itself was completely destroyed, including the temple buildings and no stone was left standing on another. And the evidence of that destruction, which came at the hands of the Romans can still be seen in the archaeological record in…in Jerusalem today. It’s kind of interesting what happened, because Jesus came into the world bringing light and life and good news and awakened many, many hearts. The reverberations of His ministry on earth are still being felt today in our own lives. And yet in the end it seems as if the people, especially the religious leaders, they weren’t looking for somebody to come and ignite and awaken the hearts of the people to God, they were looking for a messianic figure who could be a military leader to defeat Rome. And, so, they get rid of Jesus and within a couple of decades there is a rebellion. So, like they try to take matters into their own hands and rebel against Roman and make this happen. And in A.D. 70 Rome crushed them and destroyed Jerusalem in the process. So, throughout this journey that were on…just day by day step-by-step working away to the Bible we’ll have plenty of time to speak about these kinds of issues. And yeah, I mean, you start thinking about the world as you know it disintegrating and everything that holds societies together and all of that, things beginning to come unglued and come apart, bringing about unbelievable hardship on the human race upon the earth, and that it's all headed towards an end, that can be a terrifying thing to think about. So, let’s just take note about how like Jesus posture toward it is. Basically, what He said in today's reading is that the end is something that will unfold but it is not something to panic about. We shouldn't panic. It's something that is necessary. The world, the one that we've made with all of our knowledge of good and evil, this is not the intended way for us to be in this world. It's…it's going to come to an end. It's going to be broken apart. And as shaky as that time might be and as hard as it might be to endure it, the understanding is that these are the birth pangs. Like the time has come now for the new to be given birth. All things made new. And the greatest thing that Jesus warns about in terms of this process is being deceived. And, so this gives us some context of how Jesus views this and, at least for me, that's what I'm hanging onto as opposed to the kind of activity I’ve observed most of my life. I was very, very fascinated with eschatology, the study of the end times trying to name and date and place everything that’s going to happen next. I can definitely remember…I don't know one or two times as a child somehow it kind of make got traction, some of these predictions got…made traction. Like this this date Jesus Christ will return to earth and then…then He didn't…causes lots of confusion and lots of people's lives where Jesus is saying this is unfolding. You will be able to…I'm telling you kind of what you're going to see. This is…this is giving birth to what's coming next. So, Jesus equipped us with a posture toward where the world is headed, and it seems like for all generations every generation thinks that all this will take place in their lifetime. Nobody's been right about that. So, in terms of this and in terms of everything else we might be better off espousing the posture of Jesus.
Prayer:
Jesus, we thank You. We thank You for giving us advance words about things that are yet to come and we thank You for giving Your hearers advanced words about things that would be experienced in their time with regards to the temple and we invite Your Holy Spirit into helping us interpret and understand the times that we are living in. We can look for all the evil in the world. It's easy to see. It’s being broadcast 24 hours a day seven days a week. It's not hard to try to piece things together. But we’ve focused so often on the things that are not Your kingdom that we've gotten really good at finding that when we would do very well to have eyes to see and ears to hear Your kingdom because this is the kingdom that we belong to. And as all things are made new this is the kingdom, we will be in. So Come Holy Spirit and rather than us obsessing about the trajectory of our lives or the world, give us eyes to see and ears to hear Your kingdom and we ask this in the name of Jesus, in a year that we’re looking for this, in a year of vision to see the goodness of God upon this planet. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website and that’s home base. It’s where you find out what’s going on around here.
I’ve been mentioning for a couple days, we’ll be heading to the land of the Bible here in a couple weeks. And, so, just asking the community to raise a canopy of prayer over all of that. There are so many moving parts to a…to a pilgrimage like this one that it would be hard to identify the mall. There's a lot going on. A lot has to happen with technology in order for the Daily Audio Bible to continue every single day no matter where we are. A lot has to happen with travel and logistics and just moving and whether and all kinds of stuff, all kinds of variables. And, so, yeah, every time we do this it's...it's a call to the community to bathe it in prayer from start to finish. And one thing that I admire so profoundly about this community is our willingness to shoulder burdens and pray for one another and love one another. So, asking you to begin praying now over all the…all…all that happens to go to the land of the Bible with a couple of buses full of brothers and sisters from all over the world who are taking this journey through the Bible together. So, thank you for your prayers.
I mentioned yesterday, the Promise Land…the Promise Land film series, that is a fantastic resource for going through the Bible, especially the way that we are, but it is really a beautiful resource as we are physically going to be in the land of the Bible and posting all these pictures on social media and videos and stuff. It's just really a beautiful thing to be able to have that film series and look at the different places and get some context for that. So, it really does make the Bible come alive. So, that's a resource that's available in the Daily Audio Bible Shop. You can check it out. It’s a two DVD series plus digital download, like digital version of the…of the films as well. So, check it out.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com too. There's a link on the homepage and I thank you with all my heart for your partnership. If you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address, if that is your preference, is PO Box 1996, Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment you can hit the Hotline button in the app, which is the little red button at the top or you can dial 877-942-4253.
And that's it for today. I'm Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Now, Sheila from Virginia I’m calling because I heard your cries because you’re worried, worried, worried. Do not worry. Use the verse that God has not given us the Spirit of fear but of power, of love and a sound mind and it’s gotten me through many things used to concern me and no longer do. Anytime I thought I was going to worry about some little thing, big thing, whatever it was I would repeat it over and over and over. God has not given me the Spirit of fear but of power, of love and a sound mind. Thank you.
Hi Daily Audio Bible family my name is Michael from California and I called in once before mentioning that my mom has had stage IV brain cancer. I don’t even know if my call ended up being on the podcast or not but I just wanted to give an update if it by any chance did to let you all know that my mom is currently in the hospital and she is on some sort of treatment that is just making her rest consistently for the next couple days or maybe even weeks I…I don’t really know. But basically, she can’t really wake up. Like she’s just in like sort of like a coma-ish like state and she’s being fed through like a little feeding tube and whatnot. And, so, I…I pray that hopefully she can recover from all this. It’s gonna…it’s just really gonna suck if she ends up dying. I mean, I really love her so much, but I mean, Lord willing, you know, if she needs to rest and be with the Lord then so be it. I…I was just really hoping that she’d recover from the stage IV brain cancer and I ultimately thank each and every one of you that has taken the time to hear my prayer call here. And thank you to everyone that’s been praying for my mom and continues to pray for her. I love you all. God bless and I pray that you all would be in good health. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Hey family this is Melissa from Albertville Alabama I just want Diana Davis, Michael, and Elijah to know when I get on my knees at night and when I pray in the morning, I’m praying for you. I’m praying that God will make a way out of no way. I’m praying that God will heal you from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet. I’m praying that your boys will stay together, and God will keep them together. God can do anything but fail. Don’t give up Diana. You’ve got brothers and sisters all over the world who are praying for you and your boys. We love you so much my sister. Y’all have a good night. Love you Brian, love you Jill. Bye-bye.
Hi Brian, hi China, I’m Jaden I’m eight years old and I had a prayer request today that…that my uncle and my aunt they can move up here because it’s not really safe for them where they live right now. And that…and I just…my cousins they’re…they’re my sister….my other aunt’s sister is going to watch them but it’s really a lot for her. So, I want my uncle, my aunt or someone to be able to take them up here or we can go down and take them up here so they can stay with us and we can take care of them for her. And I just love you guys and I love Daily Audio Bible. Thank you for like doing all this stuff and I’d really like to go to your website and check it out. I love you guys. Bye. Thank you.
Hi DAB family this is Esther from Nashville Tennessee. I am calling again. I’m so sorry I’m calling so frequently. This is my second time this week, but I wanted to thank Stephanie from Tampa Florida and John from Bethlehem Pennsylvania and Shara Shalom from Spring Hill Tennessee for lifting me up in your prayers. And thank…I also want to thank everyone else who’s been praying for me. I am trusting and believing that God is working something beautiful in me in through this experience of anxiety that I’m having and I’m trusting and believing, like John said, that I have the mind of Christ, my mind is renewed from this day forward. I also really felt convicted that I need to incorporate gratitude and thankfulness to God more frequently in my life and make that a practice to keep these feelings at bay. And Stephanie, I am so encouraged. Thank you that does not waste our stories or experiences. And just a little tidbit, this year God’s been promising me that He’ll call me by a new name and that I will get to call Him by a new name. So, when you called me April, I…my heart leapt. I was so happy, and it seemed like such a beautiful new name. And I looked it up to see what it meant, and it meant opening or the blossoming of flowers in spring. And I just think that’s going to be a new season for me. So, thank you for that. Bye.
Hello, I’m calling because I heard someone mention praying for their loved ones, they’ve been praying for a long time and I want you to know, don’t give up. I…I…my parents were not saved and I didn’t have much a relationship with them and I prayed for years and years and I thought, gosh you know what’s the use, they’re…they’re not going to change, the years went by, I was married and had children. And I knew God said, don’t give up. And then…oh…I’m sorry…and then my mom got cancer and God used that cancer to save my parents because they didn’t know where to turn. They turned to God. They gave their lives to God. My mom had surgery, the cancer was healed and gone, and they were…they gave all the glory to God and they were thankful, and they turned their lives around. And then three months later my mom died of a brain aneurysm. And I thought, gosh, you know, it was sad but at the same time God used the cancer to save my parents. And my mom got to go home with the Lord. My dad continued to seek after God and I don’t remember how many years went by but, you know, he passed of COPD, but he got to go home with the Lord. And what I’m trying to say is don’t give up, don’t give up. Keep praying for your family.
Hello, DABbers this is Carmen from Germany. I just want to say thank you Harold from St. Louis who’s running of the Chicago Marathon for calling. It’s wonderful to have you part of this family and I know that it probably just really touches you that we are all praying for you and all welcoming you into the family of God once you have made the decision to turn your life over to Him. Another person I felt to call and…and confirm something that she said was Cara from Spring Hill Tennessee who said God gave her the name Shara Shalom. She had given the advice to somebody to start a day off by thanking God for everything. And I’ve been doing that for months now and it’s made such a difference in my life. I wake up in the morning and it’s, thank you God for the sunshine, thank you God for this house, for my…for my health for my kids. I mean there is so much that you can be thankful for and it’s made such a big difference in my attitude and my total well-being. And another thing I thought about this morning was the fact that when my husband left me a couple years ago I was really just downcast and feeling horrible and I wanted God to comfort me immediately and just take all the pain away and all the awful feelings and he didn’t, but now times gone by and I’ve realized that He was there the whole time and I held on but you just have to go through processes. If it’s a grieving process or whatever it is, you have to…to sometimes go through these times and I think they ripen you. And I’ve come through, I see where God is held on to me, He’s been there for me, He’s teaching me things and I’ve come out stronger. And, so, I just want to encourage everybody with that and wish you all a wonderful, wonderful day. Bye-bye.

Title: it wears a mask Chapter Warnings: Minor language, nightmares Summary: Beck has a change of heart at the trainyard and takes Peter captive instead. In many ways, it turns out much, much worse. (NOT SLASH)
Chapter Seven Preview
Peter sits hunched on the bed, picking idly at the cast on his hand.
It’s been one week since the London attack. Peter knows this from the news reports. They’ve caught up to current time, now (the final death toll was one-hundred and three) so the reports are coming less frequently. He’ll go hours with the room being dead silent, then suddenly the drone will roar to life and project a three-minute news segment on his wall before blinking out again.
People are moving on, it looks like. After all, the ‘villain’ was taken down, no loose ends left, and overall it was considered a win despite the casualties and destruction. The world has other things to look at now, Peter imagines. That’s natural. That’s human.
He would’ve expected himself to feel relieved that people are moving on. That the news reports have stopped. They were hard to watch, hard to hear. But the absence of any sound, movement, or color in his cell is stark, and hits him much harder than he would have anticipated.
How twisted, that he’s been made to wish for bad news if only to take the edge off his isolation.
In the past few days, Peter has spent most of his waking moments either trying to sleep, or pacing. He doesn’t get much sleep at night because the cell is pitch black and that sets him on edge. The scattered naps he manages to take during the day don’t feel like enough to shake the weariness from his bones.
Despite his tiredness, he paces. He has to, to have something to do. The cell is a perfect square, he’s found. Five steps from wall to wall in any direction. He’s all but memorized the sound his own feet make on the concrete floor, muffled by his socks but feeling much louder than they ought to in the otherwise silent cell. It beats a rhythm in his skull when he paces, and he’s grateful it gives him something to focus on.
He feels twitchier than normal- if there’s such thing as a normal level of twitchiness. When Virgil came in yesterday to check on his stitches, Peter jumped so bad he hit the ceiling. Literally. His head is still sore.
Aside from taking care of the bump on his head, Virgil informed Peter that the reason he hadn’t heard anything from Beck recently is because Beck out travelling under a false identity. Something about conducting some shady business he wants to keep under the radar.
Fine by Peter. The less he has to listen to that guy, the better.
Except now he has no one to ask whether MJ and Ned are doing okay. Whether May is doing okay. Or how Queens is doing without him there to protect it; his school, his neighborhood. It kills him, not knowing. And if Beck was here maybe Peter could ask for some time out to stretch his legs, and figure out if the itch beneath the skin of his wrist is because of his cast or because he’s never gone this long without using his web shooters.
The people who bring him his meals don’t answer his questions, and even if Virgil would tell him, he doesn’t know. So, Peter’s left wondering and pacing, and almost wishing Beck would return already, which feels terrible because he hates Beck but it’s his only way to get answers.
Peter knows he’s in dangerous waters. It’s as clear a trap around him as concrete walls; isolating him in every sense of the word, making him solely reliant on Beck… it’s deliberate. Everything about Beck lends to the notion. He’s the kind of person who’s had his moves planned out before even starting the game. But the scariest thing is that Peter has no idea what end Beck is playing at.
It still haunts him, not knowing why Beck spared his life. On the surface, Beck’s motives are clear; he wants to be a famous hero, to gain power and notoriety. He’s already well on his way, and he doesn’t need Peter to do it.
Even using him to threaten Ned and MJ isn’t strictly necessary. Beck could easily just kill them, as much as Peter shudders at the thought. The fact that he hasn’t, and instead went through all this effort of keeping Peter locked up… it means Peter doesn’t truly know his enemy, and that’s a bad place to be.
Seeing as how he can’t fight, and he can’t escape, his only option is to play along. That’s scary, too. Peter knows what Stockholm syndrome is. He knows it can start setting in as early as three days in, and he’s been here almost a week.
And every second he’s here means that there’s no one stopping Beck’s scheming, and more and more innocent people are put a risk. Beck’s already caused so much damage, but Peter can almost sense an invisible clock hanging over him, counting down the days until enough damage is done that he can’t come back from it.
Peter thinks back to everything he’s heard about Tony’s kidnapping in Afghanistan, so many years ago. In all the time Peter knew him, he never worked up the courage to ask about that time, to ask how he managed not to lose hope during his long captivity.
Peter’s really regretting that now.
The drone roars to life, and Peter gives a violent start, his heart pounding and tremors running through his body. A projection flickers onto the wall, and the voice of the news reporter he’s gotten so familiar with starts to talk. Another report on the London cleanup. More talk of destruction, all the dead and misplaced people.
Peter tips his head back against the wall and blinks away tears.
~*~
Beck wakes up to Edith’s voice.
“Herod has reported that target is experiencing extreme distress.”
Blinking awake, Beck sits up and fumbles for the glasses on his bedside table. The hotel room is pitch black, the only light coming from the digital clock that he accidentally smacks off the table. It clatters to the floor, where the time ‘2:54 AM’ beams up at him.
Beck manages to get the glasses on his face without poking an eye out, wishing for the convenience of his suit. But travelling incognito requires discretion, and the glasses are the most casual, easily concealed host he has for Edith. Maybe he ought to hook her up to one of those smart watches, the glasses aren’t really his kind of look.
“Define ‘distress,’” Beck mutters, rubbing his face beneath the glasses.
“Target is unconscious, heart rate is dangerously high.”
Shit. “Project Herod’s feed over my view.”
“Projecting feed.”
Before Beck’s eyes, Peter’s room comes into view. The gray-scale image tells him the lights are off, and Herod is recording using night vision; it’s late, even with the time difference between them. Peter’s in his bed, but it takes a second for the image to clear up because he’s thrashing around so much.
For a heart-stopping second, Beck thinks Peter might be having some kind of seizure. But then the audio kicks in, and he hears Peter screaming. It’s a wordless scream, and it writhes, pitching up into a wail and dropping down into a sob between breaths. It’s an electric jolt to Beck’s senses, where moments ago he’d been barely awake, he now feels like he’s been drenched with ice water.
“Put my voice through,” Beck orders Edith. “Peter, can you hear me? Shit, Edith, increase volume by five- Peter, wake up, can you hear me?”
Finally, Peter stills. He pushes himself upright, chest heaving for breath. Tears are still running down his face, and- oh goddamn it, he’s worked a couple stitches loose from his wound. There’s a panicked, hazy look to his eyes as he glances around. Must’ve been some hell of a nightmare.
Beck lets out a breath. “Jesus, kid, don’t scare me like that. I get woken up at 3 AM to find you’re practically sending yourself into cardiac arrest. Jesus christ.”
Peter blinks a few times, confused. “Beck?”
“Yeah, who else?” Beck huffs.
“Oh god.” Peter covers his face with his hands, and Beck can see them trembling. “God. You- you were alerted just because I w- was having a bad dream? What the hell.”
“Language,” Beck chides, just to spite the teen. “And yeah, Herod is monitoring your physical state just in case you try to escape or come down with a sudden affliction. It can’t really differentiate you freaking out over something like this, though.”
Peter’s still breathing fast. Every couple of seconds, a sudden twitch seizes his muscles. “I wasn’t freaking out, I- I was just- why do you even care?” He looks torn between horror and accusation, between being frustrated with Beck for seeing him like this, or frustrated with himself for being like this in the first place. “Why do you- you didn’t h- have to wake me up, you could’ve just ignored it. I’m sorry, I- no, just forget it.”
Before he’s even finished speaking, Peter’s stumbled out of bed, shaking off the sheets twisted around his leg and staggering his way towards the bathroom. He almost throws the door closed behind him, the bang echoing in Beck’s ears.
“Well then.” Beck leans back against the headboard. “Edith, go ahead and close the feed. And uh, ask Herod to put a little light on. Nightlight display.”
“Command received.”
“Thanks, hun.” Beck pulls the glasses off and sets them back on the table. He runs a hand through his hair, his tiredness returning tenfold now that the sudden spike of adrenaline has passed.
Alright, so something’s gotta change. That’s abundantly clear to Beck now. For the past several days, the daily reports on Peter have mentioned increased agitation- restless sleep, pacing, fidgeting. But this was just extreme. And yes, sure, technically Beck shouldn’t care if Peter’s screaming himself awake at night because he’s a prisoner, and Beck could just order Herod to ignore it. And it’s not like Beck has shied away from hurting Peter before- both physically and emotionally.
But he also knows that there’s got to be a purpose behind it. Getting Peter to blame himself for the London attack? Useful. Making him feel responsible for his friends being in danger? Useful. But letting him live in this twitchy, tortured state? Not useful. Quite dangerous, actually, because an unbalanced Peter is an unpredictable Peter.
If Beck had to hazard a guess, it’s the confinement driving Peter to the edge. That makes sense. Any normal person would get twitchy after a week cooped up, but a superpowered teen who’s used to swinging from buildings… yeah. Beck’s gonna have to work something out.
But… tomorrow. That can wait until tomorrow. He’s tired.

Pilate's Palace: Judgment & Condemnation of Jesus
Herron had died and pilot lacked the authority to decide whether to kill Jesus or not and it was because of jesus's political standing with the moloch who are vicious people and he hesitate to do anything and at the end of his talk and speech it was left open-ended he was just holding him and the supposed Jewish council they actually Romans and so he told them I don't have the authority to do this you must take him to Rome because I know Who You are and it was Tommy f who said this and his punishment was to stab Jesus with the spear and so help them but he didn't know it would but they blamed him for it and it was mentioned and he said I didn't do it on purpose and said he didn't do it on purpose oh trust me also they said oh okay they heard why now they actually were forced to take him out of there because they were just going to free him and they could hear it too they fled to Rome and they wanted it they said their armies were all gathered against them for their indiscretion and then they actually tried him and actually crucified him and it was not on gothica in the garden it was in Calgary it's a different place. And there are some who know it like mac and it was recently opened up and he was investigated and that's where they found out and his son didn't oppose them on purpose it was because Herod passed and he was just a king not Caesar the emperor and his father was Caesar the emperor and it came before Caesar and he sentenced him even though he knew him personally and Jesus held it against him forever it was a horrible thing and he insisted on Mike acting weird now you don't see them in the film flew over the cookies nest and concerning the background and they're doing all the work and yeah they more or less did the surgeries.
And the Sun is very young and inventor but we can see your attitude is very bad and your stupid people now so you have to come in and take care of you and we will
The point is different than what these a****** Max are bringing up was there a bunch of petty losers and the point is ours he was there and when way or another all the deaths brought back occasion and he was moved to Israel where the case you is a little bit worse off than dormant people say but not necessarily it still can be revived and it's a particular occasion that has significant meaning and it means that the beast moved him and that's what people say it's the lizard tons of people want to see it and it's a now pilgrimage to there and to see if it's correct and it sort of get the idea but our son doesn't want to go through the first part if he has to move but the beast can't move him he's just has to be awake.
Thor Freya
We're aware of what's going on and where it's circulating your idea. Dave was in no way so forwards and he was a friend we're going to find him and you think he's in the UK in a tomb still I'm going to check with their in force now
Bha
This is amazing because it's what really happened Tommy f is a witness and he has testified to it to him at court and without his father present and Tommy f was penalized by a Mac heavily for it a lot of people are questioning though and them now and they see it's real

Here in my garage, just bought this new lamborghini here. It’s fun to drive up here in the Steam Hills. But you know what I like more than single discounts? Steam Sales In fact, I’m a lot more proud of two new Steam Sales that I had to get installed to hold twelve thousand new discounts on Steam. It’s like what i say, “the more you discount, the more you earn.”
My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

Hi, 4k player here who reported slahser. Slahser was our position 1 faceless void. He built a mek and had around 29 healing salves in his inventory. He would chrono both teams in the middle of a fight, salve his allies, pop mek, and proceeded to yell "SLAHSER'S WAY". We gave him position 1 farm so he could be a position 5.
Granted, his unorthodox build worked and carried us to victory but I still felt it deserved a report.
I owe my life to Arteezy. I got in a horrible car crash and i was in 6 month coma. The nurse switched to the Twitch channel to Arteezy's stream. I awoke from my coma and muted it.

OSRR: 1231
today was an okay day, minus being woken up at like 7 and having to move my car because no one else can?? whatever. so i wound up sleeping until 9:10. i'm supposed to wake up at 8:15. welp.
i did more dice at work today. that was nice. what wasn't nice was being by myself for a few hours, but even that was okay, bc when sergei came back he brought checks which included a christmas bonus!! i'm so grateful. it's more or less put me back on my budget how it's supposed to be. minus a few things. which i can manage, i think. i hope.
after work i sat down intending to work on my paper (this is a theme today). instead of that, i followed the prompting i had the other day of writing james a letter. so i spent an hour and wrote my heart onto pieces of lined paper in purple ink. it was more or less encouragement, real truth, and recommendations for how to approach his situation. laced with love, i signed it simply, "i love you. -molly"
after stopping for dinner at five guys (thank you, andrew - he helped me decide where to go), i headed to the church for institute. james got there early too, and as i set up the room he was there and i just. he's so sweet.
anyway, we all sat in a circle tonight, and i got to work with james basically the whole time. it was nice. we talked about the family proclamation and what we would include in certain parts and how to explain it, i guess. it was a cool exercise. then we talked about the christmas story and about different actors in it, and how they may have responded to hearing the family proclamation. we got king herod, but just as we started talking i was pulled out for tithing settlement. so i was kinda sad bc that would've been really nice to discuss with james. he's smart and i like talking to him a lot.
after class i waited a bit and i have him the letter. i'll get back to this.
he also has the most beautiful voice. he's also singing in church on sunday, so that will be great. i'm so excited to hear him sing more. he practiced after institute, and i stuck around to figure out what i wanted to sing and to hear him because he really has the most beautiful voice of anyone i've ever heard. after he sang he came over to me and hugged me. i just love him.
as we went to leave, we didn't really speak. he had my letter to read, and i had to get to lisa's to work on homework. but as we headed to our cars, he called to me, "love you."
a beat.
"i love you, too," i said, happy he was comfortable with me enough to initiate not only contact but also affection.
so i went to lisa's with the full intention of working on research for my paper, but that didn't really happen. instead i roamed the internet for a little bit.
while i was on facebook i got a call from james. i was kind of surprised, but happy nonetheless. he'd read my letter, and he thanked me for writing it. while speaking to me, he was crying. his gratitude for my words is something to which i'm not accustomed. but my words reminded him that there is a God, that He lives, and that He loves him. that He's out there somewhere, that He's real. and that was kind of the purpose of my letter, to remind him of what was real, to give him suggestions on how to handle some things, on my role in helping him right now. i talked about some of the things we talked about on monday. i feel like it was a really important thing that i did that. i'm glad i followed that prompting. we were just really open with each other and i'm happy to say that i'm fully comfortable with it. we spoke for about fifteen minutes before he told me to get back to my paper and we said goodnight.
i spent the next two hours talking to lisa about him and his and my relationship and feelings and stuff. i'm really grateful for lisa and her perspective. it helps me see some things clearer. this is something i've been noticing recently, that my life discussions and conversations with people have been leaving me clearer than cloudier as of late, as well as closer to whomever it was.
but yeah. we talked about him and my relationship with him and my relationship with ian and the differences and the good things and how to handle dealing with mental illnesses and it was a good conversation that we had as i sat in front of the fireplace.
and now that i'm home and this has taken twenty minutes to write i am a+ done with today, thanks.

Vendor Spotlight: Eric with Eric Herod Entertainment
Meet Eric, Wedding Entertainment Director with Eric Herod Entertainment! Read how he got started as a DJ and how he treats every couple like his own family! Also, check out his tip for having a successful big day!
What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you? Every couple is part of our family. We build relationships and friendships with our couples so that we can better serve them and their guests on the wedding day. Our goal is to make every wedding a Legendary wedding, one that will be discussed in the family for years.
What’s a weird/unusual tip you tell your couples? Tip #589 (Yeah, I have a lot of them): Make sure you get the coconut shrimp. So, at our wedding, when we arrived from the ceremony, we were rushed right into the reception. Thus, we missed the appetizers, which included coconut shrimp. It was the one thing, food-wise, I was looking forward to the most. Therefore, my tip: build time for you to relax after the photos to enjoy the appetizers and drinks in a secluded area before you enter the reception because once you do, you are on your guest’s time.
What’s your favorite thing about what you do? The friendships that we have created with couples and their families. Nothing humbles us more than when we get the comment, “How long have you known the couple, it seems like you’ve been friends for a long time?”
How did you get to where you are now? I was always the kid in high school with all the music. Then, in college, I went to a club and saw a DJ live for real for the first time and knew that I could do that. When I moved to Raleigh, NC, I went to a club the very first weekend I was there and chatted with the DJ. Wasn’t long before he needed someone to cover, and he taught me how to mix beats, read crowds, and get creative with music. Once I got into the wedding industry, I started learning how to get creative with the MC work. That’s when it all came together.
What’s something every couple should know before getting married? First off, are you madly in love with your partner? Yes? Good. Then, let’s talk about how to showcase that because when you do, guests feel like they are part of something special. The reception is about your guests and they have to be participants, not observers. You have to find ways to make them FEEL the love you have for each other and for them.
What’s your go-to spot to eat in RVA? When I get down to the RVA, I love to eat at Can Can Brassiere, Wong Gonzalez, or Secret Sandwich Society. All amazing!
What did you want to be when you were little? I had and still have so many interests, but as a kid, I remember going from Astronaut to Police Officer to Teacher. Teacher landed and stuck back in 4th grade and it’s what I became back in 2001. While I taught, I DJ’d and fell in love with DJ’ing weddings.
What was your first job? My first ever job was working at Electronics Boutique, the original Game Stop. I sold video games. Yep, I am a gamer.
What did you eat for breakfast this morning? Two fried eggs on toast with cheese.
What do you like to do when you are away from work? My family loves everything Disney, so ultimately Disney World is our happiest place of all. But, if we can’t go to Disney, watching a Disney movie on the couch with the kids is awfully enjoyable too.
What’s your newest Netflix obsession? I just finished season 2 of The Punisher. That was killer. My favorite show, though, is The Walking Dead. I’m oddly into the apocalyptic survival stuff.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on now? Remixing Education. My goal is to help light a spark in changing education focusing on teaching the 7 essential skills that aren’t being taught in America. You can find out more at https://remixing.education
What’s your go-to dance move? The Wobble. Way too many photos of me on Facebook leading The Wobble at weddings!
Learn more about Eric and the rest of his team on their website!

1 Chronicles 2:18-4:4, Acts 24:1-27, Psalm 4:1-8, Proverbs 18:16-18
Today is the 6th day of July, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian. It is awesome to be with you today around the Global Campfire as we just get situated and comfortable for our next step forward together in the Scriptures, and that will take us back into the Book of 1 Chronicles and just by way of reminder we began 1 Chronicles yesterday, we talked about that, we talked about this first part of 1 Chronicles being the famous genealogy section of the Bible and we’re reading through those names and were reading through them and giving them honor, understanding that this is the story of how we got here and these are the names of the people, each of them having their own life, their own laughter, their own tears, their own experience of life. Some of these names we can recognize because we’ve met these people and traveled through their stories. Some of them we don't know much about but their part of, parts of families that are trying to be remembered and not forgotten because we’re reading well, Chronicles, we’re reading, reading a document from the time when people have been carried into exile and our writing things down to not forget. And so today 1 Chronicles chapter 2 verse 18 through 4 verse 4.
Commentary:
Okay so, in the book of Acts, we’re kinda moving at warp speed, day by day. So, as we’re reading through the story yesterday, we read of 40, more than 40 people, conspiring not to eat until they assassinate Paul in Jerusalem. And maybe we should even back up further. Paul on his way to Jerusalem was warned by everybody in his life, basically, not to go to Jerusalem, and Paul knew that he had a hardship in chains in front of them. And I remember that scene where he says you're breaking my heart, all this crying, you're breaking my heart, I have to obey God. And remember that scene where he’s talking to the leadership of the Ephesian church and he’s like “I know you will never see me again.” We went through all that, getting to Jerusalem, then Paul gets to Jerusalem and its mayhem. Right, so there’s a mob in the temple, he's carried out by the Roman military, he’s questioned, he's brought before the Hebrew High Council of the movers and shakers of administering the law and interpreting the law and shaping the culture. So, he comes before them and he as a Pharisee, he kind of knows the lay of the land here and so they become a divided counsel over Paul because he’s like I’m a Pharisee and I’m on trial because of because I believe in the resurrection of the dead which made all the other Pharisees go yup, we believe that to. There's nothing wrong with this, Paul. And so, its Pharisee versus Sadducee kind of conflict and all of this is going on and then as for this group of 40 people get together to assassinate Paul and they have a plan to get Paul back before the Council and they’re going to kill them before he can ever get there. This is uncovered, it is reported, Paul is hastened out of Jerusalem under very heavy military guard, he is first taken to Antipatris which the ruins of Antipatris still exist today like there's Roman roads going into the ruins of that city that still have chariot grooves in them. It’s a fascinating place to have walked on some of those streets and thought yup, Paul under arrest, avoiding assassination, came through here on his way to Caesarea Maritima which would have been the Roman capital of the region, very, very posh upscale Roman playground that also governed the region right on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. So, Paul gets there and it's Felix, the Roman governor that questions Paul and there's all these accusations coming against Paul and Paul's defending himself and Felix understands this is a religious problem and so he's kind of stalling a bit here and let's just understand who we’re talking about Felix, the Roman governor held the same authority that Pontius Pilate, like he held the same position that Pontius Pilate held during Jesus’ lifetime and ministry. Felix was married to a Jewish woman. Her name is Drusilla and she was the daughter of King Herod Agrippa. This is some power we’re talking about here. According to the Book of Acts, Paul visited with him often sharing the good news of the gospel. So, Paul is sharing the gospel of Jesus, the story of Jesus with the Roman governor, the daughter of King Herod Agrippa, the Jewish high Council again and he's doing this all under Roman, like nobody can do anything to him. I mean, obviously, somebody like Felix could thumbs down him and that would be the end of his life, but none of the Jewish people can get at Paul, the Romans are protecting him because he is a Roman citizen and he is able now to share in a peaceable way where you can’t be harmed, the good news of the gospel with all of the Jewish high Council and high-ranking Roman authorities. Like I said, when we started moving into this territory were Paul’s going back to Jerusalem, his influence only increases. All of the sudden he is speaking to people that he wouldn't have had access to really under any circumstances he would have had a pretty hard time, like sending a letter to Felix and Caesarea Maritima saying hey, I’d love to, could we have coffee someday, I have some news to share with you. Like, but under these circumstances, Paul is able to share at length over multiple meetings, the story and we’ll continue to watch this happen as we move to the time of Paul's incarceration.
Prayer:
So Father, we thank You for Your word and its many facets and the many ways that we can approach it and the many ways that Your Spirit uses it to guide and direct our steps, whether that be us understanding context, whether that be You speaking directly into our hearts words from the Scriptures that were written thousands of years ago that are so immediate in speaking so directly to us and so, we are grateful for Your work in our lives, Your kindness, Your patience with us, Your loving kindness, so we worship You with all of our hearts, we give ourselves to You and to Your service this day. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

It's our own little Daily Audio Bible holiday we call the Long Walk and it's a day that we will, all over the world's all of us who can, will go somewhere beautiful backyard down the street to a park drive far away to a place that you find beautiful whatever you choose, go out and be in nature place where you don't feel compelled to check your texts every other 30 seconds or social media every minute where you just go and allow nature to start speaking and healing. And it's amazing to be out in it and just realize how much life there is that's happening all around us that we’re rarely paying attention to, and go for a Long Walk with God, here as we move through the center of the year, recalibrate, re-group. Take the time to say everything that's in our hearts that we just don't have time to say and actually give space for quiet, listening to God, being with God. When you're really in love with somebody yeah there's plenty of things to talk about but you still communicating when you're not talking, you're still together and the peace of silence, just being contented with one another. All of this is part of the of the Long Walk each year. And it is a beautiful thing and so if you haven’t made plans, make plans for tomorrow. And obviously this is very solitary thing to go be alone with God, it’s a very solitary thing, but it’s something that we’re doing together at the same time all around the world also. So, we will put a post about the Long Walk on the Daily Audio Bible Facebook page tomorrow and wherever you go wherever it is, take a picture a little video or something and compose that with in the post for the for the Long Walk and all of a sudden you get to see windows into each other's lives and the beauty of God's creation all over the world and I love that. And so, that is tomorrow and I've also been mentioning a resource that is really perfect, perfect for the Long Walk and it is called Heart: A Contemplative Journey and it's, it's kind of a guided prayer and contemplative musical journey that just begins the conversation. It just opens our hearts to the different emotions that we feel and that we go through and that often we don't invite God into we just kind of muscle it out or work through whatever but to just open ourselves to these things, inviting God into what we feel, and the emotions of our hearts is one way that we open ourselves to Him and surrender before Him and worship as we invite Him into our life. So, that resource can be found wherever you get your music so like the iTunes store, YouTube music, or wherever you get your music. Just search for my name Brian Hardin or search for Heart: A Contemplative Journey and you’ll find it and you can purchase it and download it and take it along with you on your Long Walk and it's a wonderful way to start things so check that out.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible if this mission that we have together to day by day step-by-step. Take the next step forward through the Scriptures and build community around the rhythm of daily coming together on this Global Campfire if that is meaningful if that makes some kind of difference in the flow of your weeks and your life. Thank you for your partnership, especially in the summertime. So, there's a link on the homepage at dailyaudiobible.com. If you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address if you prefer is P.O. Box 1996 Springhill, Tennessee 37174.
And as always if you have a prayer request or encouragement you can hit the Hotline button in the app which is the little red button at the top or you can dial 877-942-4253.
And that's it for today I’m Brian, I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Prayers and Encouragement:
Hi guys it’s Sparky. I just wanted to take a minute; I've never done it. Listening to the DAB for two years now and I’ve never done but I'd like to say thank you to Brian and the Hardin Family, how they've completely changed my perspective on the outlook of life and the way Brian preaches. We love your brother. As I told my wife at the end of every reading, he says I love you and I'll see you tomorrow. I tell myself I love you too brother and I just wanted to thank him for making platform to where we can stop being so self-centered and see things through the other eyes of other people. The struggles that this life has and Brian you’re an amazing man and you’ve definitely changed mine and my family's life and I just want to give you kudos for that and my family are on the DAB. Ya’ll are our family. Listening to Blind Tony and I don't have Facebook and I don't have the community on that but I hear ya’ll and I know you. And that's due to Christ leading through Brian and you and Jill and your family I love you guys. Hope you have an awesome Fourth of July weekend and be blessed and go with God.
Little Sharie in Canada, this is your brother in Baltimore, Maryland. I heard your experience at church from the July 2nd podcast and I just wanna kind of lift you up in prayer because of the awkwardness, the awkward silences and it was kind of pulling away and I heard the anguish and hurt in your voice and I just pray that Lord Jesus that you’d give Sharie Your peace and Your kindness and Lord give her Your strength and Your love. Let her know that Your love is unconditional for her oh God according to Your will and purposes. God cause the people to be more sensitive to Your Holy Spirit as to being a loving community. Administer Your grace and Holy Spirit oh God and let the people know that You know all things and Your love for all things Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus we commit this and these things in Your hands in the name of Jesus. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. Love you lil sis and we’ll keep you in prayer. Bye now.
Hi Daily Audio Bible this is Tanis I’m calling in from Cleveland Ohio. I’m requesting prayer for myself and my family. On June 11th we lost one of my sisters and it’s been very hard. I just saw her on June 10th we were having a great conversation and then I get the call on June 11th that she had been in a tragic car accident and she’s gone on to be with, to glory. And with my mom, we lost my mom last year April 14th so here we are again at this side of grief and it’s just weird, to say the least. I feel like me feelings are a bit; I don’t know which feelings to grab first you know because it’s just feels as though there are just so many things going on. I think grabbing a feeling means that I have to now face a reality again that I’ve lost someone significant in my life. So, I guess I’m in denial right at the moment actually, I know that I’m in denial because I’m stuck, I’m still stuck on our conversation on Thursday and then I’m also you know, concerned about my dad he lost his wife of 58 years and now a daughter. I’m asking you guys for prayer and comfort for my family. My sister had three beautiful children and five beautiful grandchildren. And they’re all adult children but you know I want them to know Jesus like I know Him or better than I know Him or however you can phrase that. So, please pray for our family and my other siblings, call them by name Pam, Guy, Jennifer, my name again is Tanis. Call our names and I thank you guys so much for all that you do. In Jesus name thank you. Amen. Bye bye.
Good morning DAB family it’s J from the Everglades. I think I need to change out my moniker and I may change every single time I call right now because things are changing and life is moving forward. Today I’m a rot a Rut Rocker, I rocked myself right out of a rut. No, the Holy Spirit helped guide me out of my rut. But that rut came from rubbing elbows with and being influenced by other people. And it was so amazing that the day that I was influenced from very professional people through an interview process, Brian read in June 28th 2 Kings chapter 13 verses 20 and 21, when a dead body was thrown on Elisha's tomb and touched Elisha’s bones the man came to life and stood up on his feet and it is crazy and I thank You Lord Jesus that I was encouraged to go be rubbing elbows with people who influenced me for the best to stand up. I now have found new appreciation for my job I found new appreciation for the people I work with and I have new motivation to do a better job at what I’m already doing. I had to cast my net in order to get to that space. And then today I listened to Ben from PA ask for prayers for his wife who’s a stay-at-home mom with three kids and it just reminded me that sometimes we have to cast that net in order to know that we’re exactly where we are, need to be. Lord, thank You for that. I pray for Ben’s wife. In Jesus name. Amen.
Hi everybody, Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower calling and I just wanted to give you an update on what’s going on in our life here. In exactly one week we’re leaving for Belville, a 1500-mile move. Things are going smoothly, God is putting things together, praise His holy name. Even the doctor from, that Keith will be seeing there has called us and wants to talk to us even before we move. So, my daughter and her husband have everything prepared and ready for our arrival, goodness, gracious, me. What a time this has been, busy, busy. But now things are done and its goodbye time for all my friends and family here in Winnipeg. It’s a tearful time for this week. And then next Saturday we’ll be flying out of Winnipeg and landing in Toronto and then a two-hour drive to Bellville. So, keep up in your prayers. I love you all. God Bless you, Bye.

Title: it wears a mask Chapter Warnings: Language, mention of violence/injury Summary: Beck has a change of heart at the trainyard and takes Peter captive instead. In many ways, it turns out much, much worse. (NOT SLASH)
Chapter Ten
“Flex your fingers. Any pain?”
Peter fans out the fingers of his right hand. “No.”
Virgil nods approvingly. “Now make a fist. Anything?”
Peter curls his fingers into a fist. “Nope.”
“Good.” Virgil tucks the Velcro cast away into his case and gives Peter a grin. “I’d say you’re all set.”
“Thank you,” Peter murmurs, brushing his fingers along his knuckles. “Really, it… it means a lot.”
There’s no sign of the previous injury in his knuckles, and despite the extra workout he’s been getting for a week now, it feels like it’s at full strength. Virgil was right; it’s a complete recovery. But the same can’t be said for the one on his face. With all the sutures out, Peter can lightly trail his fingers across the former wound, feeling the ridges of scarred skin.
Virgil must guess where his thoughts are. “Hey, don’t worry about that,” he says kindly. “It looks badass.”
It doesn’t make Peter feel better. He doesn’t want to look badass, he wants to look normal. But he can appreciate the effort, and manages a small smile. “Thanks.”
Strange as it is, Peter has to admit he feels a sort of fondness towards the medic. All Virgil has done is take care of Peter’s injuries and show him some basic decency, but it’s far preferable to the crushing isolation or Beck’s unnerving mind games. When Peter’s with him, he feels… not safe, entirely, but much less on edge, and that’s got to be worth something.
Peter hasn’t forgotten that Virgil is the enemy. He’s complacent in Peter’s imprisonment. But the way Peter sees it, it’s better to accept the kindness when offered, to find someone in this lion’s den to align himself with. And if he’s being honest… he hopes he’ll get through to Virgil eventually. He can tell the man has a good heart, despite it all. Maybe he’ll be Peter’s way out of here.
Peter lets his smile fall away. “I’m… I’m sorry we had to meet like this,” he says quietly, and truly means it. “I think it would’ve been cool to know you in, uh… different circumstances.”
Virgil’s brows crease together, and he sighs. It’s a heavy sigh, almost tired. “Yeah, me too, kid,” he says.
Peter’s heart misses a beat. Out of the corner of his eyes, he’s very aware of the drone observing them from its corner. He has no way of knowing if someone is watching them right now, but this might be his only chance. Right now, Virgil seems… conflicted, and if Peter’s careful, he might be able to plant the seeds of changing Virgil’s mind.
“Hey, Virgil?” he asks hesitantly. “Do you-”
The cell door opens, and Beck strides in.
Peter closes his mouth, suppressing the urge to jump at the sudden movement. A sinking feeling forms in his stomach at the expression on Becks’ face. He looks… almost eager, which probably doesn’t mean anything good for Peter.
“Alright,” Beck says, putting his hands on his hips expectantly, “we all wrapped up here?”
Virgil nods, standing up from the bed. “Yep, he’s all better.” There’s a sudden hint of tension in Virgil’s shoulders, and an unreadable emotion in his eyes.
“Good.” Beck grins at Peter. “Now say goodbye to Virgil, hopefully we won’t be needing his services again.”
It takes a second to process. Now that Peter’s injuries are healed, he doesn’t have a reason to see Virgil anymore. He probably won’t get more than a passing glance of him on his way to and from his exercise. The realization is abrupt, and hits hard. The only person here Peter’s really connected with, and now he won’t get to see him again.
It’s salt in the wound, and Peter has a feeling Beck is fully aware of it.
Peter fights not to let his upset show on his face. He meets Virgil’s gaze. “See you around,” he offers.
Virgil smiles sadly. “Yeah, see you.”
The medic leaves the cell, leaving Peter and Beck alone.
Peter eyes Beck warily. Beck seems to realize right away what he’s wondering, and holds out his arm with a sigh. “Go on and check.”
Peter feels his cheeks heat up, but he takes the invitation nonetheless and checks that Beck isn’t an illusion. He can’t quite explain why it’s so important to him to know. If Beck is away from the base and uses a projection of himself to talk to Peter, there’s no harm in that. So why does the possibility leave Peter uneasy?
Peter sits back on the bed. “So, did you… want to talk to me?” he asks. There’s almost a visible sense of purpose in Beck, something that’s not quite excitement and not quite impatience. Anticipation?
“More like show you something,” Beck says. “Herod, would you play that recording I queued up, pal?”
The drone fires up, an imagine blinking to life against the wall. Peter immediately goes cold with dread. It’s been a while since he’s been shown any news reports about the London attack, but he can’t imagine what else Beck would be showing him.
A smartly dressed woman appears in the projection. There’s a vague familiarity about her, and Peter frowns as he tries to think-
“Welcome back to Queens Daily News,” the woman says. “Next is an update about the ongoing ‘Spidey Watch.’ We are approaching the third week of local superhero Spider-Man’s absence, and crime is on the rise.”
It hits Peter. This is the news reporter from his local station back home. He remembers May watching the morning celebrity dish as he got ready for school, and coming home from a successful Spider-Man outing to watch her report on it. And she’s talking about him.
“Though it wasn’t that long ago that the red and blue crusader disappeared from our city rooftops, many are taking advantage of the hero’s absence. So far there have been nearly a dozen reported muggings and two armed robberies at local businesses, the most recent of which left three people hospitalized.”
Peter’s blood turns to ice. He doesn’t have a lot of enemies, not really, and he knows his presence deters pettier crimes from being carried out. But that’s a double-edged sword, because now that he’s not there, it’ll be even more tempting to take advantage of the opportunity.
Now that he’s not there, innocent people are suffering.
“Following this most recent crime,” the woman continues, “the NYPD moved to address public unrest. Captain Stacy of the 110th precinct released this statement, regarding the jump in crime rates following the web-slinger’s disappearance.”
The image changes to footage of a stern man in uniform standing at a podium, a small crowd of reporters before him.
“The masked vigilante known as Spider-Man is not and has not ever been an employee of the NYPD,” the man says. “Prior occasions of cooperation between said individual and NYPD officers were spontaneous, unorganized events. His identity and whereabouts are not known to anyone at the NYPD, and we have received no contact from him. That said, certain measures should be taken by Queens residents in the face of the recent crime wave. We recommend residents limit their travel at night and alone, and invest in a home security system. The NYPD will be running extra patrols around the city as a precaution.”
The image shifts back to the news reporter. “If you have any information or pictures of Spider-Man, you can post them to our Facebook page. Our next story is a-”
The projection disappears.
Peter stares at the blank wall for a second afterwards, extremely conscious of Beck’s gaze resting on him. He exhales slowly. “Why did you show me that?”
“Well, I figured you’d appreciate a little update,” Beck says, his voice smug. “Seeing as you’re a bit out of the loop at the moment.”
Peter glances at Beck. He wants to feel angry at Beck’s spitefulness, but instead he just feels hollow. “So the public thinks Spider-Man just… vanished.” His throat closes up. “What- what do they think happened to Peter Parker? What does May think?”
Beck studies him for a moment, as if debating whether or not to answer. “All she knows is that you went missing before the conference in Berlin,” he says eventually. “Hill’s side of the government thinks that you couldn’t handle the pressure of superhero life and ran away. The normie side of the government thinks Peter Parker is another tragic case of an American teenager going missing in a foreign country. Trafficking, probably.”
Peter cringes. That probably means his school believes that, too- everyone minus Ned and MJ, of course. And after that rumor Brad started… oh boy, he’s going to have to come up with a hell of an explanation for all this when he gets back.
“And May?” Peter asks. “What does she think?”
Beck shrugs. “Wouldn’t know, haven’t asked her. But I’m told she insists you wouldn’t have run.”
Peter swallows. “So she thinks something must’ve happened to me.” A pit opens up in his stomach. He runs a hand through his hair. “God. Please, isn’t- isn’t there anything you can do? Just to let her know I’m okay?”
Beck tilts his head, considering. “Oh, sure. I could let her in on the secret, absolutely.” He lifts a finger. “As long as you’re okay with having drone surveillance on her, twenty-four-seven.”
Frustrated tears spring to Peter’s eyes. “No, that’s… no. I don’t want that.”
“Then she’ll just have to keep wondering,” Beck says simply. “But hey, ignorance can be bliss sometimes. How much better do you think she’d feel if she knew where you really were?”
Peter glares down at his hands. He hates the idea of May not knowing what happened to him. But he has to admit that he hates the idea of her knowing even more. It already burns him up inside that Ned and MJ have to deal with the fact that he’s captured and they can’t do anything about it, can’t even tell anyone. He doesn’t want someone else he cares about going through that, if he can help it.
“Not much,” he answers finally.
“Yeah,” Beck agrees. “Best to keep her in the dark.”
He takes a step forward as he speaks, and Peter processes the movement a second too late. Something sharp jabs into his shoulder, a needle-thin sting piercing his muscle. An instant flood of fatigue sweeps over Peter, drenching him as thoroughly as a wave. He turns his head in time to see Beck withdraw a little pen-shaped object; his last fleeting thought recognizes it as a tranquilizer.
And then everything goes black.
~*~
Beck tucks the tranquilizer away as Peter collapses onto the bed.
It would’ve been easier to drug Peter’s food, but he didn’t want to risk Peter noticing and getting set on edge. Plus, he wants to avoid a situation where Peter becomes distrustful of his food and refuses to eat. Beck wouldn’t put it past him. So he gets a chance to use the tranquilizer pen again; it’s a win-win.
Beck strides through the door, not bothering to close it behind him. “Alright, folks, let’s get moving,” he calls.
Almost everything in the base has already been packed up and prepared for the move, their tech carefully tucked away into unassuming wooden crates and loaded into generic moving vans. Beck saved Peter for last; it’s going to be a long drive to the private airfield, load up, cross-continental flight, and second drive to the new facility. The tranquilizer should keep Peter under long enough to make the trip, but Beck figured it’d be best to wait until the last possible minute.
He’s not sorry to say goodbye to the temporary headquarters. The age of the historic building made certain things difficult, and its central location in the old district of town meant they had to keep a lower profile, take extra precautions. It’ll be nice to have a remote, secure facility to really stretch his legs in. And test his drones in full-throttle.
It’s a bit of a mad rush as the final loads are sent off, his team gradually distributing themselves between the vans and unmarked cars. When they’re gone, there will be no sign they were ever here; putting up some drywall and flooring in Peter’s room, and tile in his bathroom, makes it look like an oddly placed- but not suspicious- bonus room. Definitely not a secret concrete cell.
Before Beck leaves himself, he checks on Peter. The boy is being transported in this neat little chamber about the general size of a coffin- disturbing thought, but apt comparison. It’s glass, with a padded inside and carefully monitored air and temperature controls. He’s strapped down in it, not out of any concern of him waking up but more so that he doesn’t get jostled around during the move.
He looks younger when he’s sleeping, Beck notes. That scar on his face is a brutal thing, but it’s softened by the slack in his face.
After a final check that everything’s in order, Beck pats the top of the chamber and sends Peter off to get loaded into the last truck.
“Happy trails, Peter,” he calls, mostly for his own amusement. He taps the watch on his wrist, a newer addition after the nightmare incident. “Edith, bring the car around front.”
On to bigger and better things.

Judges 6:1-40, Luke 22:54-23:12, Psalms 95:1-96:13, Proverbs 14:5-6
Today is the 26th day of April welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful as it always is, wonderful to be around the Global Campfire together with you as we move into our workweek, take the next step forward and…and let the Scriptures speak into our lives. So, we’re in the book of Judges as we read through the Old Testament. Yesterday we read about the leader of Israel, the female judge Deborah. Today we’re going to begin a story of the judge, of famous judge actually, a very famous story, the judge Gideon. We’re reading from the Good News Translation this week. Judges chapter 6.
Commentary:
Okay. So, in the book of Judges today we have met Gideon and we’ll move all the way through that story as we continue to read forward. And certainly, we’ll have things to talk about as…as we do move forward through that story. But as the stories kinda getting set up today couple things that…that are interest…interesting, anyway interesting enough to point out. In this story, the angel of the Lord or the Lord's angel comes to Gideon. And it's interesting because we’ve seen the angel of the Lord before already and will continue to see the angel of the Lord or Yahweh's angel or the Lord's angel. We’ll see this reference throughout the Bible. And we can read this and just go, “yeah. It’s an angel of God. There…I mean…there's. Some of them have names like Gabriel or Michael and this one’s just the angel of the Lord. So, it's an unnamed angel.” Actually though, this angel speaks like first person as if He is the Lord. Like, let me just quote a passage. This…this is after…after the angel of the Lord disappeared, after Gideon brought the meal and fire came out of the rock and the angel disappeared. “Gideon”, so I'm quoting, “Gideon then realized that it was the Lord's angel he had seen. And he said, in terror sovereign Lord I have seen your angel face-to-face but what the Lord told him peace. Don’t be afraid you will not die.” It's interesting that the angel of the Lord is another way of understanding that this is the Lord. This is the Lord's presence. The angel of the Lord is different than other angels in other words. The angel of the Lord speaking in first person as the Lord. I mean this is the stuff theologians will love to examine from all kinds of angles and have for centuries and centuries and centuries, but general consensus is when the angel speaks in first person, even though they are referred to as the angel of the Lord, this is the Lord appearing and speaking with people. The other thing that's interesting as this story begins to get set up is how Gideon refers to himself and who it is that God goes to to rescue his people. So, we know the lay of the land. The Midianites are oppressing the people and they have to hideout just to try to make enough food to survive. When the angel of the Lord comes to Gideon Gideons basically like, “whatever happened to the God that our fathers told us about who did mighty acts?” And the Lord speaks to Gideon telling him, “I'm calling you to set Israel free. Like you're gonna do one of these mighty acts.” Gideon is then like, “who am I? Like my tribe is the smallest tribe and I'm an inconsequential member of a small family in this tribe. Like I'm nothing. Who am I?” After the period of the judges when we enter into the time of the monarchy and we meet Israel's first king whose name is Saul, he's gonna say with very similar things, “my tribes the smallest tribe and I'm the least important member of the smallest family of this tribe.” And when we look at the example of Jesus and see that He was born into a normal existence not like born into high-ranking royalty, we begin to see these threads that God really isn't interested in our earthly power or resources to get done what He wants to get done. Like He demonstrates all the time that He can go to the very least of these and do unbelievably earth changing powerful things. And, so, it should be no wonder to us than that we are continually focused in our faith toward “the least of these.”
Another thing like this…is this little like incidental in the gospel of Luke today. So, we have entered the passion narrative and Jesus has been arrested is being questioned has been brought before the Roman prefect, Pilate, who has determined that Jesus is Galilean, so he sends Him to Herod. And often we can think like they had to bind Jesus and put Him on a cart and carry Him by donkey for several days to wherever Herod was. But that was…they were in the same complex in Jerusalem. So, he sent Him to Herod's palace, to Herod's quarters to be examined by Herod. Of course, Herod wondered whether Jesus was a resurrected John the Baptist, what was going on there. So, he’s eager to meet Jesus, but Jesus wouldn’t even really talk to him. This encounter actually becomes a catalyst to…to bring Herod and Pilate together in like friendly relations. Before that they weren't friendly. Herod was the king of the Jews. He was installed there. He was a client kind of puppet king loyal to Rome and Herod and Pilate didn't get along. The…the thing that sort of drew them together is Herod's making fun of Jesus. So, Herod asked Jesus a bunch of questions. Jesus doesn't answer. The people accusing Jesus, the religious leaders are making all kinds of accusations that Jesus isn't responding to. The soldiers are there on guard. They’re making fun of Jesus and one of the ways that they make fun of Jesus is to put a royal robe on His back, right? Sort of like they're making fun like, “Oh. Now we see that you actually are the king of the Jews. Hail King of the Jews.” So, they put this robe on Him and we know from other narratives that the crown, right, the crown of thorns. “Okay. So, you're the king of the Jews. So, let us bow down before your authority.” That’s what’s going on here. Pilate sent Jesus to Herod because He was Galilean because and He claimed to be the king of the Jews. So, he sent the king of the Jews to the king of the Jews for him to sort it out. Herod ultimately doesn't get the answers. He just thinks Jesus is a peasant crazy person, whatever. And, so, this robe, this royal robe is put on Jesus and then Jesus is sent back to Pilate where Pilate would then see the joke. “oh the king of the Jews has figured out that this Jesus guy actually is the king of the Jews because now He's got a royal robe on Him.” And that little bit of mockery of Jesus, that joke pulled them together when they had been enemies in the past. So, just a couple, kinda little vistas, little viewpoints off the side of the path here. As we continue our journey all of these things become so fascinating over time as the context of the story that we are telling from the Scriptures becomes more and more personal, more and more part of the story of our lives.
Prayer:
Father we thank You. Every day, nearly every day we thank You for Your word because we are eternally grateful. We are always thankful for the gift that You've given us, that we might pour over it, that we might learn from it, that we might learn of it and about it, that its context begins to lay out before us in a way that we can understand and live into. We are grateful that we can do this together in community all over the world. And, so, we pray. Come Holy Spirit continue to lead us into all truth. This is what You’ve promised. This is what we believe. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Family it's Jesse from Washington. It is Wednesday the 21st. I just wanted to update everyone who's praying for my grandma. She's not really doing that awesome. I think I mentioned she can't really move anymore. I mean she can barely lift her hands to her face to eat and she's very claustrophobic too. So, she can't just sit and place or just be in a bed or a chair. And it's even worse now that she can't move herself. And then the last couple times, the last few days I've gone over to talk to her she's…she's…her eyesight's getting worse, she can move less and less. She has like neuropathy in her hands that she's had since before all this stuff happened. So, she can't really feel her hands either. So, and I don't know what to tell her or how to make her feel better than, you know, other than to tell her people are praying for her. But it seems, you know, pretty bleak. She just keeps getting worse and worse and the last couple days she kept saying, you know, she doesn't want to be here anymore and, you know, she wishes she could just take a pill and just, you know, be done with it all. So, I don't…I don't know what to tell her, I don't know how to make her feel better. Like I can't imagine being in that situation myself. And then I guess the other thing too quickly is that it's very sad for…she's the only real person in my life. Like I don’t…I have parents, but I wasn't close with them. So, I know it's very sad and it’s…it hurts me, but I don't know that I'm dealing with it properly because I kind of numb out these things. So, just prayers for that as well. Love you. Thank you. Bye.
Hey this is Troy in Texas. I think I called around Easter about my mom being in a reck and being in the hospital. I want to thank everybody for your prayers. She fought hard but she did pass away, and things have been really tough. Please continue to pray for our family. Pray for my stepdad. He's really, really having a tough time accepting it and being alone. I love this family. I listen to my Daily Audio Bible every morning and it helps me a lot. If you would also pray for my marriage. Things have kind of been a struggle and I want more than anything to connect with my wife, you know, the way that God wants us to connect. So, thank you guys so much for all your prayers and love. I pray for you all. Thank you.
Hello DABbers, this is Vonnie in Northern California and I feel urged to pray for a couple of colors. A few days ago, a man I believe his name was Chad called in with…battling depression and anxiety and this morning a man named Ted called in with the same issues. And my son battles with these same things right now. I wanted to read a portion of Psalm 30. And it was a very meaningful psalm for my husband who also dealt with depression and anxiety. Psalm 30 says, “I will exult you Lord for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemy’s triumph over me. O Lord my God I cried to you for help, and you restored by health. You brought me up from the grave oh Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death. I cried out to you O Lord. I begged the Lord for mercy, and you have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You've taken away my clothes of mourning and closed me with joy that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. Oh Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.” So, I just want to pray, Father please in the name of Jesus rebuke the enemy in these men's lives. We ask You to bring them out from this painful time of battling depression and anxiety. I ask You God to overwhelm them with Your joy and peace and security and confidence. Bring them out in Jesus’ name we ask You. Amen.
Good morning Daily Audio Bible family this is Egbert from California by the way of Believe city. I greet you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I called this morning for your prayers to allow God to continue to work in my life and to continue to use me as only He can. I thank the community for all of the work and the effort that is shown in communicating with each other and supporting each other and prayers. I want to say thank you to the Hardin family for all they do and for the prayer warriors. There is so many people that I would need to thank so I would just say thank you for all the new members, the elders of the community. Continue to pray, continue to trust God knowing that His soon return is so near and we continue to do our part as the body and allow Him to use us in whatever capacity He sees fit. So, thank you and I pray that God blessings would continue to permeate your circumstances and your situation in spite of God is good and He is in control and…
good morning DAB family this is Gwynne from Texas and it is Thursday April the 22nd and I want to lift up a young lady that called in this morning from Louisiana. She's gonna have surgery in her right eye. She has two tumors and they’re bleeding, and the doctor says she needs surgery and they're not sure of the outcome. But I know a God that is sure, a God in heaven. And, so, I'm gonna lift you up right now in the name of Jesus. Lord You know what this surgery means to this lady Lord, that she wants to see just like Lord the…the blind man called out to You, “son of David I just want to see” and You touched him and he was able to see Lord. And I pray for this lady, that You would touch her, she would call out and that You would…she would say son of God. Jesus have mercy upon her that she would be able to see and that the effort the doctors go before her right now Lord that You would anoint their hands and that…that they're going to do what they need to do but You are going to oversee it Lord in the name of Jesus and she's gonna come out giving You glory because they're going to tell her that the surgery was successful. And, so, Father I’m believing and trusting in the name of Jesus for this lady that she will be able to have her sight back 2020 Lord, that she will have her sight back and she will be able to see and that…and that she will give You the glory and the honor. So, Lord, I thank You for what You're gonna do right now. It's in Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
Good morning DAB family this is La Chula coming to you from Los Angeles and I just want to say that this Daily Audio Bible has been such a blessing to me. This morning April 22nd it just really spoke to my heart. Every day I text my daughters and I say pastor Brian's on fire today's amazing. But today's…what stayed with me today is how you live, that's what you believe. And it's so powerful. How I live is what I believe. May my heart be open every day to God's word, to doing His service and living in His will. I actually want to kind of just share that God is not surprised by any actions taken against me. God is in control of my life and He promises His word will never leave me nor forsake me. So, I choose him every day. Every day I choose Him and I just encourage you to do that as well. Choose Him on a daily basis. I lift up my…my family to you, my daughter especially. She's going through a trying time and I know that she's gonna breakthrough because the Lord promises that, and His word is faithful. So, I love you pastor Brian, your entire family, the DABbers that tune in and pray for each other. And I just want to say that, from the bottom of my heart, this is…the Global Campfire is a real thing and I just love you…I love you all. Thank you so much.

Exodus 39:1-40:38, Mark 1:1-28, Psalms 35:1-16, Proverbs 9:11-12
Today is the 15th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today to take the next step. So, yesterday was a big day - Valentine's Day, we talked about the beginning of Lent, finished the book of Matthew yesterday, the first of the Gospels, which will lead us, of course, into the book of Mark when we get to our New Testament reading. So we’ll talk about that when we get there. But first, the law is being given in the wilderness with the children of Israel and Moses and we’ll pick up with that story. We’re reading from the Contemporary English Version this week. Exodus chapter 39 and 40.
Mark:
Okay. So, I mentioned at the beginning that we concluded Matthew's gospel, which leads us, now, into Mark's gospel. And we should probably say up front, Mark wasn't one of the 12 disciples, he wasn't an apostle. He was rather, mostly, a long-term disciple of Peter. And we first see him show up in the Bible in the book of acts, which, obviously, we haven't gotten to yet. He’s also known as John Mark and he lived in Jerusalem and came from pretty well-to-do family. His mother's name was Mary. She had a big house. She had a servant whose name was Rhoda. So, John Mark's mother, Mary, was one of the earliest of believers and she opened her home to early believers. And church tradition holds that her home may have been the place of the upper room where the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early believers after Jesus ascension. Of course, that’s a church tradition that just goes way back. But it's not explicit in the Bible, but John mark, or Mark, was around the gospel all his life, even as a boy. The apostle Peter was captured by Herod. And we’ll read about this story little further into the New Testament. And he was going to be executed by Herod who had put other Christians to death. And this seemed to be pleasing the people. So, we plan to execute Peter, but an angel came and sprung Peter from jail. And it was to John Mark's house, to Mary's large home, that Peter first came. And all the believers were there praying earnestly for Peter. And that prayer was answered by God, sending an angel to spring Peter from jail. So, Peter comes to John Mark's house and Rhoda, the servant girl, comes to the door and sees him and slams the door in his face, basically, because she can't believe it's Peter. And that’s a story we’ll come to later, but it shows us a little bit about who Mark is. So, John Mark had been around the gospel his whole life. His cousin's name was Barnabas, who was a dear friend of the apostle Paul. And Mark went with Barnabas and Paul on Paul's first missionary journey. So, there is a long pedigree with Mark. And church tradition holds that Mark later became a disciple of the apostle Peter and traveled all around the countryside with him and served as an interpreter in Italy, and especially in Rome. And everywhere that Peter went, he was there to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, John Mark had heard Peter's gospel over and over and over everywhere that they would go as Peter was evangelizing. And Mark recalls and remembers this because he’s heard it so many times. And he’s finally asked to write it down so people can remember the whole story that Peter's giving everywhere that he goes. And, so, Mark eventually does. In a real way, what Mark could be recording is the gospel according to Peter. And most agree that Mark himself was the writer of Mark. There’s some speculation as to the time of its writing, but most scholars believe this…and this might sound surprising to you…but the first books, the first Christian writings preserved in the New Testament are the earliest letters of Paul and, perhaps, the letter of James. The gospel of Mark, being the first of the Gospels, so the first narrative of the life and ministry of Jesus, came later. About 10 or 15 years after Mark comes Matthew and Luke. And they’re a few years apart. And then about a decade, maybe even more, later, comes the gospel of John. So, we’re in the section of the New Testament known as the Gospels -  Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And we’re about to enter the gospel of Mark, which is the first one. So, you may be like, yeah, I don't care about all this stuff, just read the Bible, but this stuff is actually kind of important. Because when we can understand it, then we can begin to see how the gospel developed and spread. So, Mark is the first of the Gospels, then comes Matthew, then comes Luke, then comes John. And they’re spread out over a couple of decades. So, they’re written at different times and they’re also written to different audiences. So, their purpose is different. Mark is writing for the first time, the life and times of Jesus. And Mark's gospel, more than any of the other Gospels shows the apocalyptic nature of some of Jesus teachings. We've already covered the apocalyptic worldview as we’ve talked before, but certainly will talk about it more in the gospel of Mark. Whereas the gospel of Matthew, that we just completed, was written for different purpose and to different people. Matthew was written to Jewish people and its intention was to show how Jesus connects to the Jewish story, how it's the same story, how Jesus fulfills prophecy, and how Jesus fulfilled the law. If Matthew were being written to a Gentile audience, they wouldn't even understand what was being talked about and they wouldn't particularly care that Jesus was fulfilling prophecies from a different religion. However, Mark influences Matthew and Luke. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the synoptic Gospels. And we’ll talk more about that along the way. But that means that they share a lot of the same stories and in a lot of cases they share exactly the same wording. Now, as it turns out, Greek scholars have examined the Greek of St. Luke, which is very educated and well written, contrasted with the Greek used in the gospel of Mark, and it's very different. Mark's gospel is written almost in like fifth grade elementary, like it's written in very, very basic Greek. So, although Matthew and Mark use a lot of the material from Mark's gospel, they’ll often make corrections to the grammar and expand the stories, as the traditions and stories about Jesus are collected through oral tradition. So, that's kind of the lay of the land. What we’re going into as we go into the book of Mark is the first telling in written form in the New Testament of Jesus life and ministry. And we’ll see that it's focus is on Jesus and his ministry. For example, there isn't a birth story. Like, the Christmas story isn't in the gospel of Mark. It begins with Jesus ministry. And so, we begin the second gospel in the New Testament in order, but the first gospel in the New Testament in time. Mark 1, 1 through 28.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for bringing us to this point. And as we enter into the gospel of Mark, we invite Your Holy Spirit. Jesus, it's You that we seek. You are our Savior and it's You that we are getting to know day by day through this process of sanctification. The Gospels, they give us the opportunity to follow along with You, hear the things You had to say, see the things that you did, all while modeling what humanity can look like, what humanity should look like, what it's supposed to look like. And, so, we pay such close attention, because the Gospels introduce us to Your heart. And, so, as we move into this second gospel we continue to invite You to reveal Yourself to us through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

And it's just a couple of days from now, day after tomorrow…hooo…I have a lot of packing to do…that we will be boarding the big plane and heading across the ocean and landing in Tel Aviv. And many of you from all over the United States and the world will also be making that journey as we prepare to pilgrimage together throughout the land of the Bible. So, I’ve been mentioning this for a couple of days, mostly asking for the community here to begin interceding and praying over every aspect of this trip that we’ll be journeying together. And we’ll be making it as interactive as possible. We do this every year. And, so, we’ll be posting pictures as were at places and videos, when the signal is strong enough. And, so, we’ll be doing as much as we can to connect everybody. And I'll be talking about where we've been and what we’re doing on the Daily Audio Bible each day. But it is just a canopy of prayer that were raising up over this, over technology, over transportation, over safety, over stamina and health, over all of the aspects of moving a couple of busloads of people all over the land. So, if the Holy Spirit begins to move in you to pray as were there, then thank you. And if we come to mind while we’re there, then thank you for your prayers. And if you want to stay connected, I would recommend that you follow the Daily Audio Bible Facebook page, which is facebook.com/dailyaudiobible or follow us on Instagram. This is where we’ll be posting the most. And about halfway through the trip we’ll be doing a Facebook Live from the Sea of Galilee, not from the shores of the Sea of Galilee, but from where we’ll be staying at the Sea of Galilee. So, we’ll give more details as we get closer, but just wanting to pray for this in advance and keep on praying over it as we move through the land of the Bible. So, thank you for your prayers.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. It is February 8th. My name is Barbie and I live in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania and I wanted to call today for two specific sisters. I wanted to call for Salvation is Mine and for Melody from Canada. Ladies, I heard your prayers this morning. I heard your cries and I want you to know that you are so dear to my heart. And I am going to pray right now. Father, I pray for Salvation is Mine, that she rest in that promise, that she would hear Your voice calling to her, that You would open her eyes to see that You are with her, that she is not alone, that she is not invisible, that she is the only thing that You are looking at right now Lord. Comfort her and give her the strength that needs to move about her days, to be a light in her world, and the witness of Your glorious love. Father, I lift up Melody in Canada. The pain that she feels right now of wanting so deeply to have a career and to be a mother. And it hurts so much to want something that is being denied to you. Lord, I pray that you would give her just strength in knowing that this is for Your glory. We do not know what Your future plans are for her but in this time, as You call to her, I pray that she would respond, that her heart would be moved toward You, that You would use this time of rest to strengthen her for whatever is that You have in store for her and her future. Mold her into the woman that you are calling her to be and let her be strengthened by You Lord in this time. Give her a hunger and thirst for Your word for your company, that every…
Hey Daily Audio Bible. This is Paul from Houston and I want to pray for people as we’re going into Valentine’s Day next week. I want to pray for the folks that are brokenhearted, the people that are hurting from strained relationships. And I looked at Psalm 34:18, the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. So, I want to pray now. God, You are sovereign. I don’t understand why we go through this pain, but let that heal our brothers and sisters who are hurting. God, You loved us so much that You would spare Your own Son, but He endured the pain and hurt of the cross to redeem all of us to You. Thank You Lord for revealing Yourself and Your love to each of us in an individual way. Help us to know You personally and to know how much You love each of us individually. Please fill us with Your love so that we can pour Your love out into others that are around us each day. Bring them to know You Father so that we can know that we were made in Your image and for a purpose that You put in us before we were even born. Jeremiah 1:5, before I created you in your mother’s womb I knew you. Help us to know You Father. Help us to love those who are hurting and difficult to love. Thank You for Your presence. Pour out Your spirit, Your love on these brothers and sisters this Valentine’s Day and may they know, Ephesians 3:18, how wide, how long, and how high, and how deep is Your love for them. I just thank You Lord for being with us all Lord. Please give people peace and seal Your love and Your Spirit toward them and to know You personally, Father. And thank You. Thank You for the opportunity. Paul from Houston. Have a great Valentine’s Day…
Hello this is Candace from Oregon. Salvation is Mine, our beautiful, beautiful sister from San Leandro California. Our hearts ache for you amidst all that you’re going through. 2017 was shockingly difficult for so many of us. And in your case, I feel proud of you and honored that you are my sister when I remember your many calls across this past year and how many times you valiantly withstood hardship. A year like that requires recovery time. Please, immerse yourself in the Psalms. Cry out to Your beloved Savior, Jesus. It was kind of a shock to hear you say that you feel invisible. You are not invisible to us. And the Lord, Your beloved, as you engraved on the palm of his hand. He longs for you to just look to Him, cry out to Him, weep, even be angry. Just come to Him. Come to Him every minute that you have that you can and just pour out your heart. He loves you so deeply. One time, after I’d lost my husband of 41 years, a month later, it was in April I think, I asked the Lord to forgive me for how angry I was. And He…I heard Him in my heart say to me…I don’t have to forgive you for that…I hate death to. So, just know that you can fellowship with Him in a deeper way, even more than ever. So, go there my sister. We love you. We are praying for you.
Hello there. This is JoAnn Marie. I’m calling from Southern California. Today is Thursday, February 8th. I just heard Salvation is Mine. I heard you this morning. And I just want to give you a word of encouragement. I don’t know what’s going on in your life but about 10 years ago I had a semi-break down. I call it a breakthrough, but it was hell to go through. And God has totally seen me through the whole thing with my emotion, physical healing, finances. He just gave me help through other people. And one thing that you said, you’re struggling to keep it all together. You know what, it might be time not to keep it altogether and just continue to call out to God and let yourself have some of that time for healing for whatever it is that’s going on. But I do want to encourage you that God is with you He hears your call. If you can get the stamina up each day to praise Him no matter what it is you’re praying to Him as you praise Him, and it’s so good for your soul. Have a great day. And again, I’m praying for you Salvation is Mine. God is good. He is with you. Take courage. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Take care. bye-bye.
Bonnie, we heard you. I remember listening to your first call and telling us that your son was coming out of prison and asking for prayer for him. And Jacqueline we hear you. And others like Jacqueline who are screaming inside or so close to that, know that you are not alone even though it feels like that. I’ve been in a similar place myself. But you are not alone. And I know it’s no comfort right now, but God hears you, God ___ you and I pray, I’m praying so hard that He will give you…send you relief and surround you with people who will be an outlet for you where you can express even the feelings to get to the bottom of it and what’s going on. As well, I’ve got another comment Brian. Say, sometimes you leave on such a cliffhanger. Right? You get so into the story and suddenly you stop. It is like wait a minute I just can’t wait till tomorrow. I know that’s how it works but like today your reading along and then you finish on, look my betrayers here… And it’s like… No, you can’t stop now we need to know what happens next. Yeah, I know praise God. I’m getting into the Bible. It’s getting bad isn’t it? But yeah, thank you for your word again today. And it reminds us that, even though it’s a story that we’ve heard many, many times, it’s still relevant and it has relevance for us. All of these stories have relevance now as much as they did back then. This is Blessed by Him from Gloucester in the UK. I will run out of time probably. So, I’m just going to pray for a bit…but if I get cut off I get cut off. Have a blessed day wherever you are. Father God, we lift up Bonnie to You for her son. Thank you Lord that he’s coming out of prison and I pray Lord that you be at work in his heart and that he would want to come back to You and to read Sneezing Jesus and that You would be glorified in his life. Father God I lift up…
